The Unauthorised Story of the Founding of CNN.
Reese Schonfeld, often referred to as the "father of 24-hour news", designed and founded three all-news networks over a period of five years. For Ted turner, he created CNN and CNN Headline News; for Cablevision he created News 12, the first local 24-hour news network.
Schonfeld served as president and CEO of CNN from 1979 through 1982, and, during that period, CNN forever altered the way we see the world. Dead news became live news. The network universe grew from 1.5 million homes to more than 15 million homes, and once CNN's ratings reached their all-time peak, Ted Turner decided he could run CNN without Schonfeld.
Now, in this fascinating book, the author recounts one of the great adventure tales of modern media; the extraordinary story of CNN's birth and how the network inevitably became part of the history it sought to report.
