Venice is in danger. Someone is threatening to destroy the city - and they've already detonated one bomb. Max, Linden and Toby join forces with a young Italian spy, Luca Cavello, to track down the culprit. Max agrees to meet the blackmailer at the famous Rialto Bridge - but before she can identify them, she's pushed into the stormy canal waters.
