From Bingo Halls to Bowling Clubs, Mavis Levack will Solve Your Mystery
"You're never too old," says Mrs Levack. If only she could remember what it is you're never too old for. Oh yes, that's right - a career, adventure. It's important for a woman to have a career. Heavens above, you can only play bowls so many days a week. Private investigating is what Mrs Levack has in mind, but unlike private investigators in those TV shows, Mrs Levack doesn't have people conveniently dropping dead at her feet. Also, there's her husband wanting to know the whys and wherefores of everything, calling her a busybody when she is just an acute observer of human nature.
Not that Eddy is domineering or a brute. In fact, he's a comfort to her, and quite good around the house. But he likes his routine, he'd be happy to play bowls every day of the week, except for Wednesdays when he goes to the library. He can't understand why Mavis wants things to change. But Mrs Levack is desperate to give it a go, before it's too late. But where do you start? A lack of clients is not enough to thwart Mrs Levack. After all, she lives in Bondi. Someone must be doing something wrong.
Armed with binoculars and a sturdy pair of walking shoes Mavis Levack PI goes looking for trouble. And sometimes she finds it right in her own home. Whether she is extricating herself from the advances of drunken psychopaths or tracking down long lost garden gnomes, her adventures are immensely readable and entertaining.
