Practical and Positive Ways to Adapt to Chronic Pain
Over ten per cent of the Australian population suffers from chronic pain that is ongoing and frequently non-treatable. Such pain can have an enormous impact on quality of life and on our working lives and on relationships, particularly with those closest to us.
'Manage Your Pain' does not suggest that chronic pain is necessarily curable - sometimes the cause of chronic pain cannot even be found - nor does it suggest that sufferers should rely on drugs, or throw them out entirely. What 'Manage Your Pain', based the Pain Centre's ADAPT program, does is teach sufferers of chronic pain to adapt to their situation; to improve their physical coping methods and to change their attitude and perspective about the physical pain in their life.
