Children get a great deal of pleasure out of anything new, but once interest shifts the item is rarely given a second glance. It is with this thought in mind that Sue Della draws on her years of experience as a primary school teacher and maker of custumes to present a collection of easily made, disposable, even recyclable costumes. They are simple, cheap and colourful, and will create no parental anguish at their passing.
The costumes are based on recycled plastic shopping bags, drink cans, newspaper, cardboard and boxes - even chip packets. Finishing touches include balloons, foil, crepe paper, coloured cardboard and spray paint. With these simple ingredients, and a very little financial outlay, you can create birds, rosebuds and violets, tomatoes, princesses, fairies, robots, clowns, a junk man, knights and samurai warriors, witches, space men and women, nursery rhyme characters and even Stone Age girls and boys.
Diagrammatic instructions are given for each character, including the all-important accessories, with colour photographs of the delightful results.
