VIDEO Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.
One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he's never met - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. His uncle tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.
The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.
When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.
Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .
Untitled The first in a new series about Norse Gods. This is a fantastic romp for children and adults alike. Great for reluctant readers. - Nola (QBD) Guest , 09/03/2017
Magnus Chase and The Sword of Summer Magnus Chase is a sarcastic, funny character who will take you to a world of Norse Mythology. Things like, being friends with a dwarf and an elf and taking on quests to stop Ragnarok and meeting gods and goddesses; Rick Riordan will excite you and leave you wanting more! I never want to put the book down! I would have to say though that it is not as good as Percy Jackson/ Heroes of Olympus but it is still an amazing story! Rachel , 01/12/2015
Percy who? In Magnus Chase, Rick Riordan returns to the world of Gods and men that he writes so well.
This is a great book, almost better than Percy Jackson (yes I said it). Shannon , 28/09/2015
