When Mary Fallon Delany was just a little girl she would spend hours listening to her mother spin the tales and legends that made up Ireland's history. The story of Ciaran of the Mists, the mythical hero who would return every 300 years to help the people of Ireland, had always been her favorite, and her fascination with Ciaran only intensified when, on her death bed, Mary Fallon's mother handed her a brooch and told her that it held the power to call Ciaran out of the mists.
For over 15 years Mary Fallon has kept the brooch safe, never quite certain if it truly held the power her mother claimed. But as the English sweep through her village with promises to tear the very soul out of the Irishmen who people the land, Mary Fallon knows there is only one man who can save them: it's time to summon Ciarin. Taking the brooch up to Ciaran's castle, she follows her mother's instructions and waits. And waits. Until, out of the swirling mists, a man appears: could it really be Ciaran back to save Mary Fallon and the land she loves so dearly?
