For the first time, maverick manager Neil Warnock exclusively reveals the story of his life in football, and how he brought Sheffield United back to the Premiership. Though best known as one of sport’s most colourful and outspoken managers, Warnock had an 11-year career as a player with clubs including Barnsley and York City. Since his first foray into managing (Burton Albion in 1981), Warnock has enjoyed great success during his time in charge of various clubs. However, none have given him such pleasure as seeing the side he has supported since boyhood return to the Premiership. Placed in charge of Sheffield in 1999, he is now the 6th longest-serving manager in League football. In 2005 Warnock turned down a transfer offer from Portsmouth to stay with his home town team, and cemented his place in the Blades’ history books by leading them back to the Premiership in April 2006, after 12 years in the First Division.
