2. Raelia
'Life is full of crossroads, Alex. Full of choices. There are many paths we can take. It's up to us to decide which ones lead in the right direction.'..
Upon returning to Akarnae Academy for another year, Alexandra Jennings quickly discovers that with Aven Dalmarta still at large, life in Medora is anything but easy. Knowing that the banished prince hasn't given up on his goal to reclaim his birthright, Alex seeks out the Lost City of Meya, searching for what remains of the immortal race. But never could she have imagined finding what she does...
Caught up in a tide of events beyond her control, Alex learns that when Aven tried to Claim her at the end of last year, something in her... changed. She's not sure who-or what-she is anymore. All she knows is that if she fails to stop him from finding a way through to Meya, all hope for the people of Medora will be lost. And it will be all... her... fault.
Raelia introduces new characters with special abilities, while also further developing favourites from the first book. Alex herself finds enhanced skills emerging whilst in Meya - which will help in any further encounters with Aven and his cohorts. I really enjoyed how this story developed the relationships between central characters so well - I’m loving the tension between Alex and Kaiden, she trusts him but can’t tell him all her secrets. I loved how the elven theme meshed with magic and technology - elements of Lord of the Rings and Narnia with Harry Potter - and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment! - Kerryn, QBD Northland
