Jake Cantrell is suave, charming and blessed with film-star looks. A brilliant and imaginative electrical engineer, Jake, however, is saddened by the failure of his marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Amy.
Maggie Sorrell is bright, poised and elegant. An interior designer, she, too, has suffered a broken marriage, and is painfully out of touch with her two grown children.
Kent, Connecticut is picturesque; it beckons to both Jake and Maggie. There they become involved with a local amateur dramatics group, and are introduced. They begin to meet, initially on business, then socially. The relationship blossoms, but ahead lie obstacles - the fifteen-year difference in their ages, Amy's sudden illness, her reluctance to divorce Jake, and Maggie's own inner turmoil. But together they overcome the odds and find the ultimate: love in another town.
