From the day of her birth, Emily's voice BOOMS. It startles the neighbors. It frightens the birds. And it embarrasses her loving but very conventional parents. It seems like there's no place for a girl like Emily in a proper New England town . . . until the day she sees a ship with a sign that says, "LOUD HELP NEEDED. NOW."
So Emily sets sail. Whether she's singing halyard chanties or shouting out the captain's orders over a gale-force wind, the crew loves her voice. And so do the whales, who become her friends and help her when a raging storm threatens the ship and all on board. Emily and the whales save the day - and at last Emily finds a place where she and her voice belong.
