A tale about one of Australias most loved reptiles. Loongie is a greedy saltwater crocodile who lives among the mangroves at Walaman Creek in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia. He has no friends and no-one will come near the creek while hes around. Loongie soon learns why being greedy has its consequences. The character of Loongie was created by mother and son collaborators, Lucy and Kiefer Dann. When Kiefer was a young boy, they would make up stories inspired by Kiefers country at Loongabid on the Dampier Peninsula in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. This childrens picture book is a vibrant mix of colour and emotion and an illustrative debut by young Broome artist, Bronwyn Houston. The images depict the unique mangrove systems, seascapes and colours of the Kimberley.
