AUTHOR: Dr Chris Lawlor is a former head of the history department of Meánscoil Iognáid Rís in Naas, County Kildare. He won the County Kildare Archaeological Society's Lord Walter Fitzgerald Prize for Original Historical Research in 2003 and the Irish Chief's Prize for History in 2013. He was also the winner of the Dunlavin Festival of Arts Short Story Competition in 2001 and the Ireland's Own Short Story Competition in 2022. He has contributed numerous articles and chapters to many journals and compilations, and his eleven previously published books include The Little Book of Wicklow.
