At the age of 77, former sociology professor Morrie Schwartz learned that he had amytrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as motor neurone disease: incurable, progressively disabling and eventually fatal. People with degenerative or terminal illness often withdraw, but Morrie embraced his illness, choosing to live as fully as possible in the time he had left. He also embarked on his greatest teaching adventure: sharing his evolving knowledge of living and dying.
'Letting Go' offers Morrie Schwartz's remarkable philosophy. He writes with great humour and compassion, combining wise aphorisms, inspiring lessons and practical advice to help those who have chronic or terminal illness, and anyone close to them.
