Claire Newbold is a modern, mixed-up heroine, struggling to come to terms with the death of her son and her husband’s self-confessed affair. She’s come to the conclusion that it’s time to check out of her life, and so, while travelling for her job, she decides not to go home. Instead, she begins a cross-country journey during which she sneaks into hotel rooms, seduces young men in the hotel pools, and then lectures their pathetic, needy mothers.
Claire is witty, sexy and invincible in her fantasy world, yet when she is caught sneaking into yet another hotel, she must inevitably face herself, and attempt to conquer her own fears and despair.
Layover is an unsentimental, funny look at the loss and grief of a modern woman, and how she must eventually come to terms with herself and her life.
