In her first four years in the role, Carol Ann Duffy has transformed the role of Poet Laureate. In this time she has written a number of brilliant, challenging, funny and relevant poems, on the people, places and landmark moments. From Chaucer to Shakespeare, from Valentine's Day to Christmas Eve, from the industrial cities to the White Cliffs of Dover, this is a celebration of the nation and its rituals.
This collection will be beautifully illustrated by Stephen Raw, a wonderful text artist who recreates words, lines and poems in the most elegant and sumptuous form. The book will be published alongside a major exhibition Carol Ann is curating for Holyrood Palace called 'From Dryden to Duffy', where the original artwork will also be displayed from August to November.
Laureate Poems will be the perfect way of marking the half-way point of her Laureateship, a gift book of genuine quality from Britain's most popular poet.
