an amazing escapist fantasy
Wow! This novel really blew me away. It's such a beautifully written fantasy. The characters really come alive, the story is set in a kind of medieval future, the plot unfolds according to an almost inevitable logic, and it all adds up to pure escapism. Easily the best novel I have read for a long while.
