In The Eastern Mediterranean Tradition
Part of the 'Milner Craft' series
Knotted lace is an ancient craft that is still practised in the Eastern Mediterranean today. It is known under a variety of names including dandella, Armenian lace and Nazareth lace. With only a few simple requirements it is possible to work pieces of extraordinary delicacy and beauty. It is a very inexpensive lace to produce and is easy to learn. Using only a needle, cotton, linen or silk thread and a pair of scissors, you can create a wide variety of superb lace designs.
The lace can be used to make treasured heirlooms: doilies, lace collars, christening gowns, bridal charms. Bed linen, table cloths and napkins, curtains, handkerchiefs, sachets, cushions and many other practical gifts can be made using this fine lacework. And although delicate this lace is very durable and easily laundered.
Step-by-step illustrations make it simple to follow the instructions for the many different motifs and designs it is possible to create. As well the book features stunning examples of traditional heirlooms, and the colour section contains beautiful examples of Elena's work that will inspire you to create your own beautiful pieces.
