A epic Australian war story of bravery and betrayal . . .
In the last few months of 1944 a group of Australian commandos were desperately fleeing down the Riau Archipelago - the chain of islands between Japanese-occupied Singapore and the safety of Australian soil. They made their escape any way they could - on foot, in borrowed Malay boats and in their own one-man canoes.
These courageous men were part of Operation Rimau (Malay for "Tiger") - a daring plan to penetrate Singapore Harbour in "Sleeping Beauty" canoes and blow up Japanese shipping with limpet mines. Based on a previous, highly successful mission, Operation Rimau was meant to be a body blow to the Japanese and a return to the might of British Empire in the pacific. But it all went horribly wrong.
In a vivid, personalised account 'Kill The Tiger', tells what really happened to the Rimau commandos from the early beginnings and success of the mission to their audacious fighting in Malayan waters and to the bureaucratic red tape and official lies which betrayed the men in their hour of need and covered up the true story for years to come.
