Four girls form the Orphans With Parents club. Misty, Star, Jade and Cat have shared their darkest secrets and fears, now they draw from the strength of their friendship to face the troubles that lie ahead for them all.
Cathy, called Cat by the other girls, needs an escape not just from her neurotic mother, but also from the horrific secrets that haunt her life, secrets she's yet to tell anyone. When her mother dies of a seizure, Cat can't face the idea of living in an orphanage for the few months until she's eighteen, or worse with her abusive stepfather. The girls bury the mother's body in the backyard, and take turns helping Cat keep up the appearance that everything is ordinary, though the truth is far from it. The girls struggle to make it through this ordeal together, but every day Cat's fear grows that her cruel stepfather will return, and then there will be nowhere for her to hide.
