Harriet Hathaway has only ever had one wish: to marry the Earl of Roxley. But unfortunately for her, Roxley has no idea that he needs to get married. So when calamity strikes and Harriet is accidentally ruined (and yes, that can happen) and as fate would have it, Roxley needs a betrothed, he finally proposes: that they make a fake engagement to help restore her reputation and that she comes along with him on what is known in his family as The Muster, the inspection of the future countess.
To Roxley's shock, his great-aunts have all suddenly taken up with aging cardsharps and roués--has the entire world gone mad? And worse yet, he finds himself wishing that his engagement to Harriet could be more than a charade. Roxley is about to learn that love can come at any time (or age) and that when one gets their dearest wish, a true gentleman will let nothing stand in his way.
