What They Look Like, Where to Find Them, How to Catch Them.

Fishing is an increasingly popular pastime in New Zealand. There are TV programmes devoted to it, breakfast radio shows all about it, and a number of fishing magazines. But until now there has not been a handy, pocket-sized, full-colour guide to help you identify your catch.

Daryl Crimp has written this book with the aim of helping the beginner and intermediate fisher expand their fishing limits. The book features approximately 60 species, all accompanied by a true-life colour illustration. Each fish has information on its appearance, its distribution, how best to catch it - and when and where.

Some useful bait fish are included, along with common and less well-known eating fish. Simple recipes show you how to cook the eating fish. An introductory section describes the types of rigs used to catch different fish, and there's a section on keeping safe while fishing.

Bag limits are also listed. The book is divided into easy-to-use colour-coded sections, so you can quickly flip from bait fish to flat fish, white fish to oily fish.
