Shunted between foster homes since the death of their parents, Jennet and Ben make a new start in Whitby. But Ben sees things - and people - that others cannot. He soon realises that Alice Boston, their guardian, is not quite as she seems. And is the Barguest, the black hound said to stalk the darkened streets, really just an old legend?
