How can newspapers be used in the study of history and what can we learn from them?
The series 'History Through Newspapers' looks at key events in history through the newspaper stories of the time. Each book contains twelve contemporary newspaper articles together with background information and an evaluation panel which looks at how valuable the article is as a piece of historical evidence and what insights it provides into events of the past.
This book focuses on the many ways in which civilian live in Britain was affected by the war during 1939-45, and how events in our towns and countryside were reported by the newspapers of the day.
