Up on Mount Olympus, the gods and godesses gather to celebrate the joyous birth of Hercules, the son of their leader, Zeus, and his enchanting wife, Hera. Meanwhile, Hades, the lord of the Underworld, is busy hatching an evil plot to overthrow Zeus. To accomplish his diabolical deed, Hades must ensure that the young Hercules - the only one with the power to foil his sinister scheme - won't grow up to fight by his father's side. Hade even enlists the aid of the beautiful Megara, but soon finds that true heroes - and true love - are difficult foes to conquer.
