Hatchett and Lycett. Friends since childhood, rivals in love, witnesses to murder . . .
Croydon's Saltdene School for Girls during the Second World War, where Dennis Hatchett and Alec Lycett are teachers, ought to be the least taxing of situations for two men in the prime of life. A place where both can get down to the serious business of wooing Norma Lewis, the object of their mutual affections.
There's just one problem. Someone keeps bumping off the female teaching staff in ghastly ways. With the police baffled (when not bumbling), it's going to take some devious sleuthing on the part of Dennis, Alec and Norma to root out the murderer. But, in doing so, will they discover some secrets of their own?
