The body of high-profile black lawyer Howard Elias is found inside one of the cars of Angels Flight, a funicular in downtown L.A. Not a detective in the city wants to touch the case, for Elias specialised in lawsuits alleging police brutality, racism or corruption; every LAPD cop is a possible suspect. It's Detective Harry Bosch's lot to be put in charge. After Rodney King, the Riots and the O.J. trial, the City of Angels is living on its nerves. Bosch must dig deep in his own backyard - which proves to be a minefield of suspicion and hate. Nor are things better in his personal life: his new-found happiness with long-time friend Eleanor Wish looks to be shortlived.
'Angels Flight' is an accomplished and realistic story which transfers brilliantly to tape in this fast-paced and engaging reading by Connelly fan and film star Burt Reynolds. The abridgement is approved by the author.
