How did the university drop-out son of an immigrant factory worker, bullied about his weight and told he'd never cut it in the media industry, become Australia's most watched global sports broadcaster? Described by George Foreman as, 'An inspiring story with great thought and wisdom', and by WWE Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross as 'an incredible journey', Good Night Irene is testament to the power of passion and determination for anyone battling to find their place in the world. In his unique and engaging voice, award-winning TV host and sports commentator Michael Schiavello shares the emotional story of the relationships that shaped his life, and the celebrities who had a lasting impact on his career, including: Steven Seagal, Hulk Hogan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jackie Chan, Dannii Minogue, Wasim Akram, George Foreman, Cathy Freeman, Joe Rogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Diego Maradona. While pulling back the veil of sports commentary and peeking into the lives of some of the world's biggest celebrities, Good Night Irene also serves to inspire the uninspired and give hope and courage to those who struggle with being bullied. For any child struggling with finding their place in the world, and thinking they won't amount to anything beyond their identity issues (weight, gender, etc), this book is proof that anyone with a dream, and the passion and devotion to work hard, can achieve that dream. Inspiring, moving and entertaining. AUTHOR: Michael Schiavello grew up in Melbourne. After interning at Triple M, Michael began working as a sports journalist. Since then he has written for more than 50 publications worldwide, was the long-serving editor of Blitz Magazine, and the editor of International Kickboxer magazine until 2009, a feature writer for Inside Sport magazine, and was the youngest ever inductee to the Best Australian Sports Writing Awards. He has commentated for AXS TV, K-1, Dream, Maximum Fighting Championship, King of the Cage, and The Contender, Asia. He currently travels the world working as a TV Commentator and Presenter for Singapore-based MMA promotion One Championship.
