This book collects more than 200 activties for altering human perception through sensory stimulation, without the aid of drugs or alcohol. These 'all natural' highs include different auditory, visual, tactile and sensory-induced illusions, breathing and meditative exercises, and much more, all that lead to a mental/psychological 'highs.' The tone is fun and approachable. It's like a sensory perception activity book. The material touches on aspects of physiology, science, art, spirituality, and the wiggy intersection of them all. Part of the fun is that the material comes from scientific experimentation, art/visual concepts, spiritual practices, and plain old hippie fun-time activities. Each activity is formatted into two parts. The first section introduces and defines the concept, such as 'Hynagogic phenomena is the state of limbo just before falling asleep....' The second part explains how to 'get high now' and gives step by step directions on how to reach that state naturally. We do not advocate trying anything that might be dangerous in the book (in the few cases, like trepanation, where we describe a process that others have used that is too good not to include, the text will be written in a way not to give any actual instruction and cast the process in a don't do this but isn't it amazing people do this? light). Regardless, the copyright page will make a stop in Disclaimer City en route. Visually we're seeing the book as 2-colour and illustrated with photographs culled from stock spiritual, scientific, artistic, and hippie contexts which are then altered with the second colour to make them trippy. This should capture the gist of the material in a fun way and have the book avoid looking like our usual 2-colour illustrated books.
