The bilingual publication Gas in Glass was released to mark the exhibition of the same name in the Fraeylemaborg in Slochteren, which commemorates the discovery of the first Groningen gas well fifty years ago. The exhibition of twelve sculptures in the English landscaped garden of the Borg pays homage in glass to the fossil resources that the Groningen gas field has kept hidden for millions of years. In inimitable style, seven internationally renowned artists give form to their vision in glass. Five of them, namely Peter Bremers, Bert Frijns, Ineke Hans, Caroline Prisse and Joost van Santen, come from the Netherlands. The two foreign members of the group are Czech artist Vacláv Cígler and Austrian artist Katrin Maurer, who currently resides in the Netherlands. The publication devotes a biography to each one of these artists, and gives an in-depth analysis of the work they completed for the exhibition. Both the publication and exhibition are beautiful examples of the diversity of forms that can be expressed in glass in the 21st Century. Text in English + Dutch
