Anthony Acciavatti's arresting maps, photographs, and texts animate his dynamic atlas of profound vision. Temporary cities, agriculture, and infrastructure shape and re-shape the author's sense of dynamism as he navigates across one of the most densely populated river basins in the world, from documenting the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad to the annual flooding of cities and fields during the southwest monsoon. Having spent nearly a decade mapping the river and its environs by foot, boat, and car, Acciavatti's cartography and choreography captures the different speeds at which space changes over time. AUTHOR: Anthony Acciavatti, the principal investigator and author, is a graduate of Harvard University Graduate School of Design, and a principal of Somatic Collaborative, an Architecture and Urban Design practice in New York City. Acciavatti has travelled by foot, boat, and car documenting the expanse of the river Ganges, from its source in the Himalayas to the ancient city of Patna nearly I,000km down stream. He has presented his work at international events on the environment and design in Asia, Australia, North America, and South America. 300 illustrations
