Charterhouse football goes back to the days of the Hospital in the 17th century. In the founding year of the Football Association there were only 15 entries for the FA cup, now there are around 700! But the numbers went up rapidly so despite the Carthusians winning it in 1881 and appearing in 5 quarter finals and three semi finals they left the FA Cup to the professionals in 1892.
