Felicity, Petros and Liberty Green think they're the luckiest kids on earth - their artist mum and woodcarver dad decided to take them sailing round the Marlborough Sounds for a year!
They'll be home-schooled on the boat, and their parents hope to sell their crafts at local markets to make ends meet. Their kooky grandma, a hippy who wears red lace knickers with pink hearts, will stay on shore and meet them whenever they land.
Life on the water is not exactly what they expected: blocked heads, seasickness and living in a confined space are all unexpected problems, not to mention an old boat prone to breaking down and some threatening men who might be paua smugglers.
However, this family of sea gypsies will meet whatever challenges their new life brings, and their lively and exciting adventures will keep young readers interested and looking forward to the next instalment.
