Designs and Techniques
French trapunto is an ornate and delicate presentation of white quilted embroidery, brought to a high state of perfection in southern France during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Solange Kergreis has been practising and teaching this work, which originated in Provence many centuries ago, for a number of years from her shop at Annecy in the South of France.
Her sentimental ties to the South have led her to research and study this old Provencal form of quilting, known in English as French trapunto. Her desire to share her passion for these marvellous works from the past has led to the creation of this book.
Included here are a brief history of this attractive art, detailed instructions and numerous designs to be made into small quilts, babies' bibs, tablemats and a lampshade, with a fold-out pattern sheet included.
