AUTHOR Penelope Worsley was born in Cairo in 1942 and was brought up in Wiltshire. In 1966 she moved to Yorkshire, having married Oliver Worsley and they had four children. She has spent most of her life supporting local communities, charities and organizations, setting up her own consultancy to encourage charities throughout the UK. Her work in northern Thailand with the Karen hill tribes has dominated the past 12 years. In January 2011 Penelope will receive an Honorary Degree at the University of York
