The book is about Christian discipleship. In Henri Nouwen's words- "It aims to help people develop a greater love for Jesus and a greater desire to follow Jesus." It consists of two parts. Part I is about why we might choose to follow Jesus. With so many choices available to the twenty-first century person, especially the more popular path of secularism, Henri Nouwen lays out, in his characteristically "stripped to the essential" manner, the challenge and reward of choosing the way of Jesus. Part II consists of Henri Nouwen's suggested spiritual practices to help keep us on the "narrow road."
