'Floating' is based on a short story that Robin Troy wrote when she was only 15 which was inspired by a rumor she heard on one of her family vacations to Arizona about a man who went to jail and whose wife began an affair with his brother.

It is the story of four people - a woman, her young son, her husband who goes to jail, and his brother, with whom she begins an affair.

Ruby is a beautiful, powerful woman who can drink beer with the boys, loves to ride horses and has a soft spot for alluring men other than her husband. Carl is Ruby's violent high-school sweetheart who becomes her husband and lands in jail when he robs a convenience store. Sean is the mysterious stranger who show s up at Ruby's front door and turns out to be Carl's sexy younger brother. Brian is Carl and Ruby's senstive eight-year-old son who prefers pools to ponies and has won many swimming competitions.
