By the age of 37 Danny Furlong had lived an extremely active life. He had been a paratrooper, a professional athlete, and a computer programmer. He had travelled and worked throughout Australia, including the far northwest, and overseas. He was living on a property in regional Victoria with his wife and their two young daughters.
Then, without warning, he suffered a major stroke. Fifteen years later Danny has very limited movement, speaks only with a voice synthesizer, and is dependant on others for assistance in the most basic domestic activity. The stroke had no detrimental effect on Danny's sense of humour or love of life. In fact Danny considers himself lucky - lucky to have escaped death.
