A mother and child are kidnapped while driving back from the supermarket. The crime has a surprising number of similarities to a cold case which Fennimore had been lecturing on. Before long, he finds himself drawn into the case.
However, at the same time he finds a lead in Paris that suggests his daughter, now missing for six years, might be alive. He enlists the help of his old friend DI Kate Simms, recently returned from the US.
