A transfer to the Sydney office is just what Claire Quinlan was looking for after a failed office romance at home in Dublin has left her searching for new horizons. Intelligent, attractive and ambitious, Claire arrived in Sydney determined to succeed and make the most of the opportunity. Claire quickly realises, though she's unsure why, there are certain personalities at Amtech Corp who are less than pleased by her arrival. She soon finds herself caught up in inter-company politics and begins following her suspicions on company fraud. Claire also feels increasingly drawn to Robert, the company's vice president.
Despite their seniority and age differences, and the unmentioned presence of Robert's estranged alcoholic wife, their involvement intensifies daily. As their affair deepens, so do the company politics and the fraud allegations, drawing to a shocking and dramatic conclusion and a final, decisive test for Claire's trust in Robert.
