Timmy and Eight, a plush toy octopus, have been friends for as long as Timmy can remember. Eight and Timmy go everywhere together, including on a picnic to the National Park with Mum and Dad. When they come back home, Timmy realises with horror that they have left Eight behind. Dad comforts Timmy by reminding him how strong and brave Eight is. Timmy is lonely and sad, but begins to imagine all the adventures that Eight is having.
