Egg reads in "The Daily Eggsaminer" that the town sports carnival is on and of course there will be lots of races, so he decides to get in there and do his best. he starts with training: some stretches and egg rolls for warm-ups.
When they ask what age range he is, he says brightly, "Free range!" But his first attempt isn't successful. He falls over and misses the race. A boy called Flip helps him up and offers to partner Egg in the three-legged race. But that doesn't work either. In all the excitement, they trip and fall over.
But the next race simply has to be a winner: it's the egg-and-spoon race, and Egg and his new friend Flip win it. Each of them gets a winning cup, and Egg is so pleased that he sits in his to have his photo taken.
