AUTHOR: Professor Sean McGrail is widely regarded as the leading authority in the area of boats and ships within archaeology. Professor McGrail served in the Royal Navy from 1946-1968, which included flying as a pilot in the Fleet Air Arm between 1952 and 1968, before going on to study Archaeology at both the University of Bristol and University College, London.
