The battle of Dunkerque was certainly one of the most dramatic episodes of World War Two. Following a long retreat, nearly 350,000 French and British soldiers were trapped at the bridgehead on Dunkerque beach. This memorial photo album features all new and previously unpublished images from May and June 1940, many of them from private collections. The book represents many years of research in archives in France and elsewhere, and the World War Two photographs are often accompanied by full colour versions of the same scenes as they look today. It features hundreds of previously unpublished wartime photographs - the fruit of many years of research in archives and collections. There are bilingual English and French language text and captions.
