Auckland is the entry point to New Zealand. As the only true city in New Zealand, in the international sense, Auckland is quite unlike the rest of the country, and is unique to itself. Although it is full of tourist attractions it is not a tourist city. Rather it is a busy cosmopolitan and thriving metropolis that accepts tourists with warm friendliness - but in a very businesslike manner. Auckland is a beautiful city, built on a series of hills (extinct volcanoes, in fact) overlooking a harbour. As always, in this part of the world, the scenery transcends the architecture.
