Mitch Coltrane is an award-winning photographer - the man responsible for the shocking images which leave the world in no doubt that Bosnian Serb leader Dragan Ilkovic should be imprisoned for horrific war crimes against humanity. Coltrane, however, does not see himself as a hero and resolves from now on only to take pictures that celebrate life and document hope.
But it seems that the horrors of his last assignment are set to haunt him. Somebody wants him dead - and they know how to make him suffer while he lives. For protection, he moves to another photographer's home where he discovers, hidden in the basement, a collection of prints of the most hauntingly beautiful woman he's ever seen. And as he falls in love with her image, he discovers once more that the past can intrude on the present with the most terrifying consequences.
