'Dendrobium and Its Relatives' is a comprehensive and beautiful reference work that includes approximately 400 species, each with a description averaging about 200 words and a colour plate. The description provides details of the author, common synonyms, habitat, distribution, very brief description of features not evident on the photograph and details of cultivation.
The Dendrobiinae are subdivided into 48 sub groups. Almost all the horticulturally popular species are included, along with many lesser-known species. The book also examines aspects such as the classification of the group, their conservation, their evolution, their biology and their cultivation. There are also short chapters on hybrids and on traditional uses of dendobiums.
