The core of the series focuses on 3 main characters Leif the reluctant hero, Barda the disgruntled castle guard and Jasmine the wild haired orphan. Together this unlikely trio have to work together to restore the belt of Deltora and banish the evil that is plaguing the land. Along the way we meet lots of crazy characters and evil creatures from gigantic snakes to massive human eating insects. Deltora Quest will always remain one of my favourite reads of my childhood. The first bindup of this series follows the adventures of a trio travelling around the world of Deltora collecting magical gems with the power to overthrow the evil Shadow Lord who rules over the land. With lots of clever riddles and puzzles along the way, it's a truly engaging read and a great intro to fantasy for kids! - Mitchell (QBD)
