1890, Murray River, Northern Victoria
Georgina is unhappy in her aunty and uncle’s house on the Murray River. Her uncle is a drunk who is making his way through the family money, her auntie a shrew and her cousin a brat. Unlike the rest of the family, she isn’t looking forward to return of the prodigal son Dane, who is the family’s last hope to save their business.
Determined to make her own way, Georgie steals some money, dresses in man’s clothing and takes off, but things don’t work out quite how she had hoped…
An historical romance with a feisty, flawed but always likeable heroine. Includes lovely glimpses of the life and landscape of nineteenth century Australia, a love triangle and excellent romantic tension. A hugely enjoyable read.
