This is the most awaited book in the Dark-Hunter world to date - the history of Acheron. His past as a human, his birth as a god, and his role as the Dark-Hunter leader. This is the two books of his life released as a single volume. From the world of the Dark-Hunters comes the most anticipated book to date... Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron endured a lifetime of hatred. His human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Brought back against his will, he became the sole defender of mankind. Only it was never that simple... For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he never wants revealed. Now his survival, and ours, hinges on the very woman who threatens him. Old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both. War has never been more deadly...or more fun.
What?!
When I first bought this book (which in itself was an adventure) I thought "Its huge!" but as I worked my way through it, I could understand why. For anyone who loves Ash and has always wondered about his past, prepare yourselves for a tear jerker. Its split into two halves, the first recounting Ash's past, and the second bringing the reader to the present life of the Dark Hunter we all know and love. And for a man/god who doesnt like getting close to people, Ash certainly has quite a few soft spots. Despite his often standoffish nature in this book, his leading lady, Soteria (Tory for us normal people) handles it well. And thats if you think well is launching something at his head. She's quirky, and clumsy, but I could easily see the family resembelance between her and her sister Megeara (Geary). She's a character I hated at first and yet came to love within pages of her introduction. This book is an essential for anyone who loves the Dark Hunter world and it adds another level to a character who has held me captivated since his first appearance. I loved it.
